What Pasta Shape Are You?

Are you into star-signs and constellations? We’re not, but we are interested in shapes—pasta shapes to be specific. And so, to celebrate International Pasta Day, we had a think about the personality of some of our favourite pasta shapes. Go on, tell us: which one do you think you are?

Spaghetti: You’re the height of classic glamour. You hate to be broken. You often look chic and refined, but you can sometimes struggle to hold everything together.

Orecchiette: You’re a great listener, and you’re versatile, but you prefer things to be kept simple when you’re around.

Garganelli: Oh you like the finer things in life. You’re a blend of old world and new traditions, and like to be combined with decadent pairings. People might be put off by your flair, but actually you’re a lot more simple than what meets the eye.

Ravioli: Appearances are everything. You’re a fan of things being tidied off nicely and neatly. From the outside, you don’t always give a lot away, but underneath, there’s a hidden depth — and sometimes, a surprise involved too.

Rigatoni: You’re a regular favourite to have around: reliable, dependable, able to get on with most. You’re good at scooping up the messy bits, but you can easily get overcooked if you spend too much time with those who don’t know you well enough.

Lasagna: You’re layered and methodical. Deep down, you’re a traditionalist and like to stick to your own highly organised schedule, but secretly you love people to surprise you with new and inventive experiences.

Farfalle: You’re extroverted; the life and soul of the party. Sometimes your shape brings all the excitement to the table, and other times people need something softer. You’re always a big hit with the kids too.

Cavatelli: For you, the beauty of life lies in the irregular parts and rough edges. You don’t like to stick to just one form and enjoy a bit of variety. That said, despite being good at going with the flow, if you’ve been out and about too long, you’re not always the best. You’re much better when you’re feeling fresh.

Gnocchi: You’re a dichotomist and often hold two concepts true at the same time. You lean towards existentialism because you’re not always sure of who you are. But others see it — your combined energies are what make you so beautiful. You can be a bit of a love–hate character, but those who love you, adore you and never stop coming back for more.

Sagne: You’re a pragmatist. You know it might be more elegant to spend longer on things, but you know that over perfection comes with its own complications. You’re loved by all generations, malleable, and the kind of person people will speak about for generations to come.

Fettuccine: You’re incredibly popular, and you have the weight to back it up. You’re best enjoyed when paired with something smooth. Yet, although you’re a people’s favourite, the admiration can sometimes get to your head.

Bucatini: You’re a bit whimsical, because nobody really knows why you have that space inside of you or what it’s for; but when given the right pairing, you’ll show them exactly why you are the way you are.
